Musée du Chanvre

Implanted in the valley of the Ouche, the hemp gave its name to numerous localities : Chenevières.

Situated in a house of the XVth century, House of Municipality in the XIXth century, the museum is the only one in France dedicated exclusively to the hemp : the culture, the harvest, the various tools necessary for the treatment and for the transformation of the plant. In the hemp, everything is useful for the human or the animal.

An authentic loom allows demonstration of an activity wich was intense till the end of the XIXth century. In 1850, one counted 80 weavers, making of Bligny a craft center of weaving mill renowned for the sharpness of its work.

You will quite also know about the rope factory, with the various mechanisms of productions, of the cord up to the big rope of navy.

An exhibition of the current possibilities of the use of the hemp will show you the interest of this plant, the culture of wich goes back to the ancient time.
